What is Latex?

Latex is made from processed rubber tree sap (Hevea milk) and it is the main source of natural rubber. After extracting it from the tree, the milky liquid is whipped to form a foam, which is than heated to produce latex.

It comes from the Hevea brasiliensis, a South American tree species, also found in large plantations in southeast Asia, including Malaysia. Rubber trees must be about 5 years old before they produce latex.

After natural latex is processed it becomes a rubber with excellent mechanical properties. It bends and breathes naturally and lasts a lifetime.
